How 2 The Hills is a project which will work with marginalised communities to dismantle barriers to engaging in the outdoors.

What will we do?
Working with excluded communities and outdoor authorities, we’ll create and deliver resources which can be used to empower communities to explore more.
- Infocards
We will work with our target communities to create infocards which answer the top questions people have when trying hiking for the first time. - Workshops
We’ll deliver workshops based on the content of the infocards to target communities. - Route Itineraries
We will create visual route cards of hikes accessible from the Central Belt by public transport. We know that cost, time and fitness are major barriers to the outdoors so we will aim to create routes which suit varying abilities. - Hikes
During Summer 2023 we will deliver a series of hikes with the target communities to test our resources and routes. - Project Evaluation
We will evaluate the surveys and interview evidence to evaluate the efficacy of the resources in dismantling barriers to participation.

Meet our Partners
We are delighted to partner with LEAP Sports Scotland and the Maryhill Integration Network, who work with communities that are currently under-represented in the outdoors
We will work with these communities throughout the project to develop resources which empower people of all backgrounds and abilities to explore more.

With thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund for funding this project.
